On the 3rd of November, Bloomsbury Auctions in London will hold its first sale of vintage NASA photographs. What makes this auction special is that the collection, put together by Victor Martin-Malburet, shows rare and iconic images from NASA expeditions. Included in the auction are photographs of America’s first space walk and the classic images of the Apollo 11 mission, which landed on the moon.
There is more to this auction than just a collection of photographs, it is the painstaking effort and true passion of how Victor Martin-Malburet made this into a collection. In the introduction to the catalogue, Martin-Malburet talks about how and why he decided to collect these photographs. He explains that, as a child, he always had a taste for adventure and exploration. From the first time that he saw NASA vintage photographs he knew he had to collect them, he devoted himself to understanding and identifying them. It is this information that fascinates me and only adds to the collection. He bought what he loved and this really is the key to becoming a true collector.
